1951 Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) founded Foskor in Phalaborwa
1953 Foskor plant was commissioned
1960 Foskor broke even for the first time
1965 PMC began mining copper in Phalaborwa
1976 A phosphoric acid and two sulphuric acid plants were commissioned by Triomf Kunsmis in Richards Bay
1984 Triomf became Indian Ocean Fertiliser (IOF)
1984 The granulation plant was commissioned in Richards Bay
1987 Foskor acquired 30% shareholding of IOF
1994 Foskor raised its IOF shareholding to 50%
1997 Foskor acquired full ownership of IOF
1999 Extension 8 commissioned in Phalaborwa with Loesche mill adding capacity of 4.4 million tons per annum
2000 The Foskor group consisting of two operating divisions was formed
2001 IOF became Foskor Richards Bay
2002 Foskor Richards Bay doubled its phosphoric acid production capacity by building additional phosphoric and sulphuric acid plants
2002 Turbo generator with 26 MW electricity-producing capacity installed at Richards Bay
2003 Foskor acquired a 5% share in Godavari Fertilisers and Chemicals Limited (India)
2004 Phalaborwa’s hauling capacity raised to 26 million tons per annum with 12 180-ton haul trucks
2005 The Coromandel group (CFL) in India acquired a 2.5% stake in the Foskor group
2005 Foskor entered into a Business Assistance Agreement with CFL
2006 Foskor made a small profit after three successive years of losses
2008 Foskor sold 51% of its Zirconia business to Carborundum Universal Limited, a CFL affiliate
2008 CFL raised its stake in the Foskor group to 15%
2008 The Sun International group (India) acquired a 1% stake in Foskor from CFL
2010 BEE transaction concluded
2010 First blast in South Pyroxenite Pit as Pyroxenite Expansion Project Phase I is completed
