  • Foskor was founded by the IDC in 1951 to produce phosphates for South Africa’s agricultural sector
  • The Group's core activities focus on the mining and beneficiation of phosphate rock and subsequent production of phosphoric acid and phosphate-based fertilisers.
  • Foskor is the only vertically integrated producer of phosphate rock, phosphoric acid and granular fertiliser in South Africa.
  • Foskor is the second South African company with DEKRA Gold (DEKRA is an international safety and quality ratings agency dealing with technology, the environment, training, monitoring and mobility certifications.).
  • Foskor is the leading supplier of granular fertilisers, namely diammonium phosphate (DAP) and monoammonium phosphate (MAP), core ingredients in final fertiliser products comprising nitrogen, phosphates and potassium, also known as NPKs in South Africa. The phosphate rock concentrate, a key input in phosphoric acid production, is railed primarily from Phalaborwa to Richards Bay, with the phosphoric acid exported to India, Japan, the Netherlands, Bangladesh and Dubai, and a small quantity sold locally.
